~ INTRODUCTION ~

We don’t rent PRIMs in NeoLondon [NeoVictoria SIM]. We do rent ROLEPLAY homes in Machinima SIM.  This is a dark roleplay estate, please read the leasing rules (scroll down) and the NeoVictoria Region Rules and Covenant [in-world, from your viewer, click World > Region/Estate > Covenant (tab)], to be sure we’re right for you, before renting.

The landlevel of Machinima is a game-grid with ten rental properties, a large public park, maze and 7Seas fishing.  If you’re in Machinima, you can teleport directly to a property using the teleporters in the Transport Station building on the skymall.

~ HOW TO RENT ~

Starting a New Rental

To rent a property for the first time, pay the rental box by the property or its server in the skymall. Once your Lindens are transferred to Asil Emor, the system updates and your avatar’s name should appear in hover-text, plus the box texture will change to show the property is rented.

Next, IM Asil Ares or Asil Emor, and they will add you to the “NeoVictoria” land group so you can set PRIMs.  Also, advise Asil Ares with the names of the avatars you want to have “key” access to the roleplay doors and they will set that up too.

Renewing your Rental

When rent is coming due, you can either pay your rent to the box by your home or to its rental server, which is located in the Transportation Station in the Skymall.

~ LEASING RULES ~

WELCOME TO NEOVICTORIA! HERE’S THE MAIN THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR RENTALS TO AVOID FRUSTRATION LIKE OBJECT RETURNS!

1. GET CONNECTED

2. AVOID OBJECT RETURNS!

Contact an owner or estate manager of the “NeoVictoria” group, so we can add you to the “NeoVictoria” land-management group.  Once you’re in the group, wear the Renters tag titled “NeoVic Tenant (OOC)”.  Keep this group tag over your head when setting your prims and they will be set to the group and not auto-returned.  And join the sister group on the website… http://neovictoria.ning.com/group/neovictoriaroleplaygroup …for detailed information about what’s rezzed here for your enjoyment.

3. No Refunds.

You can leave your rental whenever you want by removing your prims and clicking the rental box, then choosing the “will not renew” button.  There are no automatic refunds if you leave early.

4. Problems or questions?

Don’t contact all the officers in the land group at once; state your DETAILED request clearly in a single IM to one manager only.  We have a staff board in the Transport Center of the Skymall.  SLUrl: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Machinima/243/147/703. You can see who is online by visiting that location.  Otherwise, NC Asil Emor or use the NeoVictoria group chat to ask help questions, just keep in mind everything is voluntary and Admins cannot always participate. Spamming the land group with queries, chat, or ads will get you evicted.

5. This is a role-play SIM.

No ban lines and no permanently locked doors.  If you get griefed, document it (screenshots, chat logs) and reach out to SIM Admins.

6. COUNT YOUR PRIMS.

You are responsible for your own prims (or land impact).  Click your property’s rental box for the prim-count.  If you go over, the system will IM you.

7. BE CONSIDERATE OF NEIGHBORS.

No spinning anything, no permanent spewing particles, no annoying regular sounds and no lucky chairs, casinos, etc. NO SECURITY ORBS, NO AVATAR LISTENERS. NO HIPPPIE PAYS, NO MONEY-TAKING OBJECTS, NO PYRAMID SCAMS OR UNLAWFUL ITEMS LIKE CASINOS. The requests we make here are simple rules for maintaining the theme of the SIM and to encourage roleplay.

8. Locked doors are a fiction.

They can be hacked at any time by putting out a cube and sitting on it right through the door. We have RP roleplay doors that “lock” so you can enjoy break-ins as part of your roleplay.  Asil Ares needs to set your doors up for you, once you rent.

9. Griefing (not gameplay).

The chief thing to remember about privacy in Second Life is that there is none; NeoVictoria is a roleplay SIM, and when you’re on the game-grid (land-level), anyone is able to speak with everyone.  However, if anyone is harassing you OOCly, or you feel intruded upon or exposed, you can call into the NeoVictoria group chat for Admin assistance.   If no one is around, log off to break the griefers attention, then log back on, document and report the griefer by filing an abuse report with Linden Labs, and advise SIM Admin, so we can estate ban them.

10. Terraforming is NOT allowed.

We’ve landscaped here to create a landscape with role-play and machinima in mind.

11. Steampunk themes only.

Keep this theme in mind as you decorate your house.  Be very careful of what you rezz outside your home.  If it’s not Steamy, Asil will ask you to reconsider.

No prim lawns or prims laid for snow or any other type of prim coverage of land except for the house foundations and stone paths created by the SIM owner.

12.  Watch Your Scripts.

No spinning or jumping items of any kind, no listening scripts or any other lagging scripts that harm SIM performance.

13. Weapons.

No scripted weapons that affect other avatars, and no security orbs or bounce scripts.

14.  Keep It In-Character.

No clubs, casinos, sub-lets, stores, spinning signs, strobe lights, particle effects (except fires, candles, etc.). No tip jars, lucky chairs, Tringo or other games or any other aggressive commercial activity. No holo-vendors, no shouting scripts or automatic chatting scripts.

15.  Pets

Scripted pets are only to be placed outside while you are at home and using them, put them inventory and do NOT leave them out to lag the SIM.

16. Eighteen+ in Real Life

You must be an adult to play in NeoVictoria. DUE TO CHANGES IN THE SECOND LIFE TERMS OF SERVICE, BY ENTERING NEOVICTORIA YOU INHERENTLY AGREE TO ABIDE BY THESE RULES, YOU AGREE THAT YOU ARE OVER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN AND YOU ARE NOT OFFENDED BY VIOLENCE, ADULT LANGUAGE OR SEXUAL CONTENT. THE OWNER OF NEOVICTORIA DEFERS ALL RESPONSIBILITY BEYOND THIS AGREEMENT, IN LEGAL LIABILITIES, TO THE TRESPASSING PARTY, PARTIES NOT OVER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN ARE TRESPASSING AND THUS LEGALLY LIABLE FOR THEIR OWN ACTIONS.

17. Age-Play

Absolutely no sex based age play allowed. PERIOD. NO ARGUMENTS. Engage in sex based age play and you will estate banned and reported to Linden Labs.

Child avatars are NOT allowed on the land level, even as observers.  No exceptions.

18. No-Copy Items

Something to keep in-mind as you personalize your dwelling, a SIM has its own database, independent from the ASSET SERVER. This can be a blessing in disguise, but is also a danger. The local SIM’s database is backed up every hour or so. Any items and objects you set out onto the SIM is maintained and backed up by the SIM. If a SIM crashes, the last backup is read back and “rendered.” By keeping a “backup” of your valuable goods in your inventory on the SIM, you can weather the Asset Server Inventory Loss syndrome.

The flip side (and danger) is that if you set out a NO COPY object from your inventory onto the SIM, the Asset Server marks it as no longer in your Inventory. The SIM is now carrying that object. If the SIM crash before a backup is made, your object is gone forever.  Caveat emptor.

The Transportation Station on the Skymall in Machinima SIM

~ The CasperLet System ~

Effective February 2015, we moved to the CasperLet system. All new rentals and future payments should be made to that system. [We use to use the Alika Rental system; as current rentals expire on that server, their boxes will be deleted.]

Renting for the FIRST time.

To rent one of the Machinima properties, pay the rental box which is located near the property itself.  [The box will either show the available texture or the reserved texture, if Asil has reserved that rental for your avatar.]

Once your Lindens are transferred to Asil Emor, the system updates and your avatar’s name should appear in hover-text and the box texture will change to show the property is rented.

Renewing your Rental

When rent is coming due, you can either pay your rent to the box by your home or to its rental server, which is located in the Transportation Station in the Skymall.

How the CasperLet System Works

Everyone Sees These Main Menu Options

  • INFO: This option gives the basic rental information (cost per week and prims/land impact). If it is rented, we get a message that the unit is already rented.
  • NOTIFY ME: Adds the user to a notification list for when a rental becomes available. The notification does NOT specify which rental has become available, however. The user has to come and see the rentals to determine which is available.
  • PAY: This brings up the selector menu to choose paying via PayPal, credit card, or L$. Instructions will follow that the customer needs to follow; they will vary according to the option chosen.

Tenants Get These Main Menu Options

Main menu for tenants

  • GRP INVITE: Allows the tenant and additional tenants to get re-invited to the land group, if applicable. (This option isn’t active in Neo; IM an Asil or one of the GMs for an invite to the land group.)
  • LAND IMPACT: This tells the tenant how many prims/land impact they’re currently using, as of the last count via the prim counter.
  • NOTECARD: This gives the tenant the information notecard that is sent upon renting. It contains the information in the Land Covenant.
  • REMINDERS: This toggles the in-world reminders TO the tenant off or on. (It’s recommended you keep this turned ON so you don’t miss renewal and prim-overage reminders.)
  • TENANTS: This option brings up the “Tenants” sub-menu option, detailed below.
  • TIME LEFT: Gives a local chat message informing the tenant how much time is left on the rental.
  • UPDATE PRI[MS]: This tells the rental unit to take a “quick count” of the prims on the parcel – it is helpful for tenants who want to keep track of their prim/land impact usage.
  • WON’T RENEW: This simply informs the system that the tenant will not be renewing the rental when it expires, so no reminder messages will be sent.

Tenants Have an Additional “Tenant” Sub-menu Options

 “Tenants” submenu for tenants
  • ADD TENANT: Allows tenant to add additional tenants (friends, family, etc.) to the rental.  [IMPORTANT: Adding someone to your rental will NOT add them to the land group.  Reach out to an Asil or a GM to have them added.]
  • CLEAR TENANTS: Clears out all additional tenants all at once that may have been added by the primary tenant. (Resets the rental unit so that only the primary tenant is listed on that rental.)
  • LIST TENANTS: Lists any additional tenants that have been added to that rental. This option does not list the primary tenant, only the additional ones.
  • REMOVE TENANT: Removes additional tenants on a name-by-name basis (instead of all at once.)

FAQs

Can someone else pay my rent for me?

No. Only the avatar signed to the rental box can make payments.

Can I have my partner added to my rental?

Yes!  You can add avatars to your rental.

Can I have other people set PRIMs in my name? [In other words, can some of my friends use my rental allotment?]

Yes!  Once they are in the land group, any avatar you have assigned to your rental will have their rezzed prims count against that rental.

If I don’t pay my rent, will my PRIMs be auto-returned?

No.  We’ve built a time-window into the rental box.  Don’t pay and the rental server will eventually kick you.  If you don’t renew, one of the admins will contact you once.  If you don’t reply, your PRIMS will be manually returned.

May I build and script in my home?

NeoVictoria is a role-play estate, not a build-zone.  If you want to build and/or script things, please use a public sandbox.  [If you are building for NeoVictoria, please speak with Asil and she will set you up on her build platform in the main SIM.]

Can I lock my doors?

Yes (and no).  Most of the properties in Machinima have at least two doors.  Most of these are roleplay doors that can be broken down using melee force.  [Doors can be keyed to the names of renters of the property and their friends, so you don’t have to break down your own doors to get into your house!]  Effectively, what this means is that you really can’t “lock” your house against intruders. [From a role-play perspective, why would you want to?]  The Asil Ares avatar has to manually set the doors for you.
