Fantasy Faire 2016

For the third year in a row, the NeoVictoria Project is proud to sponsor a SIM for Fantasy Faire.  This year, we’re sponsoring the Serenity SIM.

Built by Kaelis Ember and Aikeo Rieko, it promises to be an elvish fantasy.  “They say there are one thousand steps to the top of Serenity, an ancient city, every nook and cranny carved to perfection, smooth curves, beautiful terraces, stunning waterfalls, latticed windows. Built by ageless hands so many moons ago, they also say that those who ascend to the top of the city will discover something more valuable than gold, the knowledge we’re not alone in our fights.”

NeoVictoria is Doing the Steam 11 Hunt

It’s a Mini-Hunt with Five Gifts Inspired by the Sea!

Realms of the Deep
Steam 11: Realms of the Deep

The only Victorian Steampunk-themed grid-wide hunt in SecondLife is produced by Historical Hunts.  Voted the BEST GRID-WIDE HUNT (STEAM X) and BEST HUNT ORGANIZER in this year’s HUNTIES Awards, this is our sixth year contributing, and this year we’re stop 70.

We always do a mini-hunt: this one may be the most amusing ever!

We have five gifts staged throughout our Visitor’s Center on the skylevel of NeoVictoria SIM.

Our skylevel is always out-of-character (OOC), so hunters need not fear they’ll disrupt the roleplay.

Here’s the list:

  • 2016 Souvenir Calendar
  • Fully-furnished Skybox (or Houseboat)
  • Mer Poser
  • Angler Headlight
  • NPC Attack Fish

The hunt always begins at the Steampunk Information Centre in Mieville Doyle and runs the entire month of March.  However, if you’d like to visit NeoVictoria right now, here’s the SLUrl: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/NeoVictoria/16/128/1003.

The NeoVictoria Project presents “The Bewitched Carnival”

PRESS RELEASE
 For Immediate Release
 5 September 2015

The NeoVictoria Project presents “The Bewitched Carnival”.

Five evenings of non-stop roleplay, celebrating the NeoVictoria Project’s fifth year in Second Life!

This series of roleplay events begins on Monday, 21 September 2015, with a harvest festival that will feature a traveling carnival of the mostly-dead, and a very traditional wickerman.  Everyone is invited to roleplay with us!

SLUrl: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/NeoVictoria/17/128/1004

In NeoVictoria, we do free-form dark roleplay.  Free-form means there is no script; scenes evolve out of real-time character interactions.  Dark roleplay means characters may act in aggressive, predatory, criminal and/or plain uncomfortable ways.  We use a simple dice-based wearable HUD called the Jade Kreations Role Play Tool Suite; avatars must wear this to see the roleplay chat.  The item is free and available in our Visitor Center,  various locations on our out-of-character skymall, and the SecondLife Marketplace.

Players don’t have to be a member of our group to roleplay here; we do ask newcomers take a tour of the Visitor Center in NeoVictoria SIM to learn about the storyworld before joining in the roleplay.  [Observer tags are also available for players who want to visit the land level, but not roleplay.]

Happy Birthday, Second Life!

We’re Included in SLB12!

Every year, players in Second Life get together to celebrate its birthday: this year, Second Life is twelve years old and the celebration begins on 21 June 2015.

The NeoVictoria Project is honored to be included in the official celebration.  Please visit us on SL12B Wonderous, click the link for the SLUrl to our parcel!

Our ParcelAbout NeoVictoria’s Exhibit

The NeoVictoria Project with its live action simulation on the Second Life platform is a unique dark roleplay environment crafted with a Steampunk aesthetic. The goal of the project is to create a self-sustaining cycle where roleplay becomes filmed story.

The build is based on a plot from our roleplay. Miss Ticka, the proprietress of the tavern, has sent her magic portrait of the Sidhe queen back to Old Earth for servicing.  During transport, negligent portal imps dropped its crate from their dirigible.  It crashed to ground, along with a crate of mirrors and books; now the magic has escaped, causing the land to lift and the mirrors to capture some of the recordings the portrait had made.

Credits:  Fianah Mistwood built the set.  Asil Ares and Crosswired Deanimator created some of the textures.  Fianah Mistwood made “{BHC} The Queens  Mirror” gift.  myomy Resident and Jhaesoph Foxdale made the “NeoVictoria Greeting HUD SL12B Edition FP” gift.

A Fantasy Faire Thank You

Poster for White Wedding
Our roleplay cycle for Fantasy Faire 2015

FantasyFaire2015 ended last week: it raised L$7,910,480 (US$31,642)  for Relay-For-Life and the fight against cancer.  It did that because people cared enough to volunteer their time to create content that drew players from all of Second Life into the SIMs.

This year, NeoVictoria sponsored the Aurora SIM and produced another great roleplay cycle.  We’re taking a moment to publicly thank the people in our community who worked so hard, over a very short time, to make “White Wedding” an overwhelming success!

  • Studio Yue stayed up late too many nights, making the machinimas that tracked our roleplay in almost real-time.  Watch all of them here.
  • MadMechaMessiah Resident played multiple characters, including the Groom, often at the same time.  Their final roleplay as Augustus Whitehill was simply amazing!
  • Akasha Electricteeth developed the character of the Bride, roleplaying most of its scenes, and found the amazing skeleton-avatar we used for it!
  • myomy Resident created a special edition of the NeoLondon Times, so we had an in-character prop to give to faire-goers during our time in Aurora.  If you haven’t read it, here’s the link.
  • Tarquin Evermore built a charming steampunk-airship as our Relay-for-Life gift.
  • Certified Lunasea rebuilt the Second Life wiki’s chat-bot script, so we had a working chat-bot of the Bride to entertain visitors when we weren’t roleplaying in Aurora SIM.
  • Treyhem Whitfield rezzed their steampunk-airship, the Winged Mare, so we had a great set-piece for our characters to use as their transportation to and from the fairelands.
  • Fianah Mistwood and myomy Resident kept our events on track by keeping the roleplay order organized in the NeoVictoria Group chat; Tafiyah Ehret helped with roleplay transcripts; and Jhaesoph Foxdale was our GM at the fairelands.

And, all of these players joined in the roleplays, that became the movies, that was “White Wedding“:

  • AgnusAleron Resident as Agnus Aleron;
  • Akasha Electricteeth as Akasha and Nourie Hadig;
  • AlexisKattalakys Resident as Alexis Kattalakys;
  • AlyssTheMenace Resident as Nourie Hadig;
  • Asil Ares as PortaImp FirstClass WhiteSmoke;
  • Asil Karu as herself and Cerridwen~in~chains;
  • Argus Steamweaver as themselves;
  • DarlaDoll Resident as Darla;
  • Crispin Sturges as Piotor;
  • Fianah Mistwood as Miss Tickta;
  • GhostFacedKiller Resident as Augustus Whitehill;
  • Jhaesoph Foxdale as himself;
  • Lancelot Mint as himself;
  • MadMechaMessiah Resident as Leander Hatfield;
  • myomy Resident as Myomy Ohmai;
  • NataliaDArtigo Resident as Natalia;
  • OhDearMe Resident as OhDearMe Ohmai;
  • peacelynxtree Resident as Lynx the Half-Pooka and Adara;
  • QuarkZen Resident as Zen Katria;
  • Snowjob Resident as Pits;
  • Tafiyah Ehret as Keke and Corell;
  • Tarquin Evermore as Samuel Bellamy and a stray dog.
  • Treyhem Whitfield as Treyhem Sleipnerson;
  • ValentineAdler Resident as Valentine ‘Val’ Adler;
  • and Xiuhcohtl Balazic as Anya “Ginger” Greer.

Congratulations everyone for a job well done; you make The NeoVictoria Project one of the best roleplay environment in Second Life!

Fantasy Faire 2015

The NeoVictoria Project is again sponsoring a SIM for Fantasy Faire.  This year, we’re sponsoring the Aurora SIM.

Built by Beq Janus (we sponsored their Asperatus SIM last year), it’s a world plunged into an ice age, where men of science seek answers in the ethereal shimmering of the planets energy field.
